Jackson Wild (JW) is committed to protect the privacy of our community. The privacy policy below outlines how and why any personal information collected from you will be used, stored and processed by JW.
Who We Are
Jackson Wild ignites original voices and amplifies collaborations between science, conservation, corporate, public policy and storytelling partners by providing stakeholders with an international forum to conduct business, collaborate and celebrate the world's finest nature, conservation and science media.
What is personal data, and how do we collect it?
Personal Data means any information relating to a person who can be recognized by an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data or an online identifier. This data is collected by filling out a registration form for an event, making a purchase, signing up for email updates, or corresponding with staff via email. We may also receive personal data through third parties, such as social media platforms.
If you're aged 16 or under, you must get your parent/guardian's permission before you use our websites or provide us with any personal information.
Types of information we collect
Contact information
Including name, contact details including address, phone number, email, personal photo, job position and company name.
Film Information
Including the title of the film, run time, synopsis, completion date, language, website, stills from the film, director, producer, production companies, editors, designers, art directors, cinematographers, sound recordists, sound editors, sound mixers, original music, effects editor, writer, narrator and other credits.
Purchaser Information
To purchase passes and other tickets to JW events, we collect provided bank or credit card details through a third party secure payment platform, Linkpay, as well as contact information, IP address and billing information.
Demographic Information
During registration for events, we collect optional demographic data, including education, profession, age and gender.
Instances when we may collect personal data or information might include these and/or others:
- Register and attend a JW program or event
- Register a film into the Jackson Wild Media Awards
- Contact JW via email, phone or on social media platforms
- Sponsor an initiative or event
- Fill out a survey
- Apply for a volunteer or staff position

- Participate in our On Tour program as a filmmaker, a non-profit partner or venue host
- Enter a promotional contest

Use of personal information
The information collected may be used by Jackson Wild for the purpose of delivering the products and services that we offer, supplying the user with any requested information, providing customer service for our services and creating a positive user experience.
We may use information provided deliver relevant advertising and marketing, including informing you of other events or products available from JW, or to ask for your opinion of current services.
We may use your information to manage registration for events and create a profile about you to help provide the best service to you.
We may use your contact information to send you emails and other communications including updates about JW programs, such as date and deadline announcements, discounts, and important event information. We may also include in e-newsletters relevant information from sponsors and promotional partners. The nature and frequency of these messages will vary depending upon the information we have to share.

Protection & retention of personal information
We retain indefinitely all the personal information we gather about users as necessary to fulfill our contract with you. If there is no legal basis or other requirement for keeping your data and there has been no activity from you for twenty-six months, your data that is no longer required will be erased.
We have a formal data protection policy and procedures in place to keep your personal information safe. All staff are briefed and trained in data protection requirements, and access to users personal information is limited to legitimate purposes. We use industry standard security to encrypt your personal information when it is in transit to our servers. This includes firewalls and SSL encryption.
Sharing personal data
Jackson Wild will never disclose personal information to any third parties without your consent, other than for legal reasons or data processors carrying out work on our behalf and working with us to provide a service. This may include payment processing, email delivery, analytics, and user surveys. These data processors are given access to the personal information needed to perform their functions but are restricted from using it for other purposes.
We may disclose personal information if legally required to do so, if requested to do so by a governmental entity, or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (b) protect the rights or property of JHW; (c) prevent a crime or protect national security; or (d) protect the personal safety of users or the public.
JW may also provide collected anonymous information about visitors to the JW community with its clients, potential sponsors and partners, so that they may understand the kinds of people who attend JW events.

Under the GDPR regulations, EU-based users have the rights to request from us access to Personal Data we store about you, to amend (or rectify) this data, to restrict our processing of the Personal Data, to erase the data, and to receive a copy of the data.
You have the right to withdraw consent where you have previously given consent to the processing of your personal information, e.g. unsubscribing from marketing communications.
You have the right to restrict the use of your personal information if it is inaccurate, our our use of your information is unlawful or if we no longer need to use the data for the purposes for which we hold it.
You have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office, although we ask to first be given the opportunity to resolve the issue.
Use of event photography
At Jackson Wild events where a professional photographer is present, we may use the images for promotional materials and on our websites and social media. If you have a valid reason why the image should not be used, please email info@jacksonwild.org to request that it be removed and we will do our best to work out the issue with you.

Cookies are small files which are stored on a user's computer. They are designed to hold a modest amount of data specific to a particular client and website, and can be accessed either by the web server or the client computer.
We also use cookies to analyze and improve experience, for example track clicks, to see what content is popular and for other analytic purposes.
