Q: When will I hear back if I have been accepted into the volunteer program? A: Application entries close on June 1st. We will be sending out acceptance emails in the weeks following, with role assignments and schedules being sent out in August and September.
Q: What do the different volunteer/work exchange options mean? A: Because of the context of the festival there are many individuals wanting to break into the field of nature and wildlife filmmaking but find that the best way to participate in the festival is through some variation of working as a volunteer. Each of our three options are listed below and cover certain levels of the participation in the festival through your work exchange.
Seven (7) full days of volunteer work (60+ hours): Full Festival & Summit Pass + Lodging during the Festival.
The Full Pass to the Wildlife Film Festival & Conservation Summit is valued at $1350.00.
Lodging is valued at $199.00/night and is based upon the assumption that rooms are double occupancy ($100/volunteer)
Be prepared to work hard during setup and tear down as well as having a full schedule of work shifts during the Festival.
Five (5) full days of volunteer work (45+ hours): Receive full Festival pass (lodging not included)
The Full Pass to the Wildlife Film Festival is valued at $1200.00.
This discount does not apply to the early bird pass rate.
Three (3) full days of volunteer work (30+ hours): 50% discount off of a full Festival Pass (lodging not included)
Discounted Full Pass is $600.

Q: If I choose the volunteer option without housing are there accommodations that the festival offers at a lower rate? A: Unfortunately, the festival cannot aid in finding accommodations for every participant in the festival volunteer program. For those who choose to volunteer fewer days are responsible for securing their own housing during their time at the festival.
Q: I received my volunteer acceptance email! What do I need to do next? A: Congratulations! We are very excited to have you join our team! If you have been offered a volunteer position with the festival and would like to accept simply reply to that email with “I accept this position” and we will know you are onboard.
Q: I received an email saying, “The decision has been made to not take on this application” Does this mean I cannot participate in the festival? A: We regret that we will not be able to bring on everyone who applies to volunteer with us. Please know the process for selecting our volunteer staff is carefully considered. Please do not be disheartened if you receive this message. Although you may not be joining us in our work crew you are more than welcome to come partake in the festival!
Q: How will I know my role assignment? A: Following your acceptance email you will be designated to certain role(s) with our volunteer crew. There may be more than one role assigned to you during your time with us at the festival. Each role assignment will be detailed in your assignment email.
Q: I accepted my volunteer position but am now unable to attend. How do I withdraw and what is the deadline to withdraw? A: We hope that this does not happen but understand that you may have a change in circumstances. If you are unable to participate in our volunteer program we ask that you inform us BEFORE August 15th so that we can accommodate our needs before the festival.
