AWARDS HONORING WOMEN
The Yves Rocher Foundation is accepting applications for the Terre de Femmes (Women of the Earth) Awards
from the United States. The awards are designed to honor women who make the world a greener place through
their actions and programs.
Three U.S. winners will be chosen and awarded cash prizes of $7,000, $5,000, and $3,000 for first place,
second place, and third place, respectively. The first-place prize winner will be entered in the
International Women of the Earth Awards with other first-prize winners from other countries. Deadline for

GEORGE PAGE DIES AT 71
George Page, one of the founding board members of the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, died at his
retirement home in Equinunk, PA, on June 26. He was 71. The cause of death was cancer.
Page was an NBC reporter and bureau chief before joining PBS in Washington in 1972. The following year he
moved to WNET in New York where he was in charge of cultural programs and worked to create a natural
history series for US public television. NATURE was born in 1982, and Page was its host and narrator until
his retirement in 1998. He was a founding member of the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, created in
1991, and will be missed.

The IDA Awards Competition is the foremost genre-specific event dedicated to the documentary film.
Established in 1984, the Awards are made possible through the support of the Eastman Kodak Company.

ALL ROADS FESTIVAL TO VISIT JACKSON HOLE
In only its second year, National Geographic's All Roads Festival will screen
in Los Angeles , Santa Fe , Washington D.C. , Vancouver , New York, and Jackson
Hole, this year. This remarkable festival will bring several indigenous filmmakers
to screen and discuss their films, creating a unique experience culturally enriching
and deeply personal.
All Roads also hosts international film evenings at National Geographic
Society's headquarters in Washington, DC, and offers networking sessions
and production-related seed grants of $1,000 to $10,000 to indigenous and

FESTIVAL FILMS TOUR THE U.S. & OVERSEAS
The best wildlife films of the year, from the 2005 Festival,
are traveling around the country and overseas as part of
the Jackson Hole Best of Festival Tour. By May, JHWFF films will have been featured at events in Colorado,
Washington, D.C., Alaska, Illinois and India.
Recent Tour Events - The American Center in Calcutta, India presented a featured
screening of Earthling in January in association with the third Aranyak Wildlife
Film Festival. Last weekend the American Bar Association's Annual
Conference on Environmental Law featured a special screening of Strange Days
on Planet Earth: Troubled Waters at its annual meeting in Keystone, Colorado. Producer
Jonathan Halperin attended the conference and spoke to the group about issues
associated with this challenging project.
Upcoming Tour Events - A number of Festival films have been selected to screen
at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History during the 14 th Environmental
Film Festival (March 16-26) in Washington, D.C. In collaboration with
over 50 local, national, and international organizations, including JHWFF and
NMNH, the Environmental Film Festival presents 100 outstanding films from around
the world. Films screen at venues all throughout the city, and most
screenings are free.
Screenings are March 25 and 26 th at the National Museum of Natural
History, and include the following Jackson Hole films: Ants--Nature's
Secret Power; Capuchins: the Monkey Puzzle; Deep Jungle: New Frontiers; Europe,
A Natural History: Genesis; The Good, the Bad and the Grizzly; Miracle Planet
II: The Violent Past; and Strange Days on Planet Earth: Predators. All

The tour will continue on to beautiful Homer, Alaska, where a series

$10,000 DOCUMENTARY FILM GRANT - LAST FEW DAYS!
AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival is joining forces with ACE (Animal
Content in Entertainment), a new program of the Humane Society of the United
States (HSUS), to offer a feature-length documentary film grant of $10,000 for
the creation of films that address animal issues .
SILVERDOCS and ACE will select the top five treatments. The filmmakers for these
selected treatments will be invited to pitch their projects to a distinguished
panel of broadcast and distribution executives in an open session of the International
Documentary Conference at SILVERDOCS, which runs June 13 - 18, 2006. The winning
pitch will be announced at the SILVERDOCS Sterling Awards Ceremony.
Along with the $10,000 grant, ACE will assist the winning filmmakers with
development, seeking distribution and promotion of the project on the ACE
Web site, in the ACE e-newsletters, which are e-mailed widely throughout
the industry, and an article in the HSUS' All Animals Magazine (distribution:
10 million). Filmmakers will also receive two VIP tickets to the 2007 Genesis
Awards.
