Our Mission To encourage the production of natural history programming around the world by providing nonfiction filmmakers and broadcasters with an international forum to conduct business, test new equipment, refine program production techniques, and continue to seek new and more effective ways to promote awareness and sensitivity to the conservation of wildlife and wildlife habitat around the world. Background Information Since its inception in 1991, the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival organization (JHWFF) has provided broadcasters, filmmakers, and other industry stakeholders with a forum to conduct business, stay informed on emerging market opportunities and technologies, test new equipment, refine program production techniques, and expand the role of media in understanding wild creatures and their habitats. JHWFF hosts alternating bi-annual events held each fall. The Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival is held each odd-numbered year, and The Jackson Hole Tech Symposium is held each even-numbered year. Each of these events allow television and film industry professionals from around the world to network with their peers and engage in lively discussions, seminars, and forums, all devoted to the world of natural history filmmaking. Equally committed to a path of education and outreach, the Festival is dedicated to raising awareness and empowering action, through the innovative use of media. Toward this end, the organization is committed to creating and fostering innovative collaborations with local nonprofits, community organizations, governmental entities and schools. JHWFF CORE PROGRAMS: Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival The Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, held in the fall of each odd-numbered year, is an unparalleled industry gathering focused on film competition; cutting-edge equipment presentations; and an exceptional slate of seminars, panel discussions, and screenings. The Festival is attended by 6-700 hundred television and film professionals from more than 30 countries. Set against one of the most scenic natural settings in North America ñ the Grand Teton mountain range and surrounding Jackson Hole valley ñ the Festival and its majestic backdrop are both inspirational and enlightening. The Festival culminates each year with a gala Awards Ceremony and dinner where the best examples of the natural history filmmaking art are honored along with their producers. The honorees and their films represent a very select group, judged from over 600 film entries by a distinguished panel of industry experts. Jackson Hole Tech Symposium Held in the fall of each even-numbered year, this is a more intimate gathering of 250 participants. The Symposium is an ideal forum for the exploration of emerging markets and leading-edge technologies, targeting participants interested in examining the economic, logistical, and creative dimensions of the new media. The Symposium focuses on practical and tangible demonstrations of the most exciting new technologies and market opportunities through immersive involvement in seminars, panel discussions, and meaningful hands-on experience.
