Lisa Harrow, Actress

Lisa Harrow, a New Zealander by birth, joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1969 and played leading roles in many of their productions including Olivia in Twelfth Night, Desdemona in Othello, Portia in Merchant of Venice, and Lady Amaranth in Wild Oats. She also played Ann Whitfield in Man and Superman opposite Peter O’Toole on a national tour and in the West End. She has starred in many TV shows including the BBC series Nancy Astor, Sense of Guilt, and ITV’s Kavanagh QC.

 

Now living in Vermont, Lisa made her New York debut playing Vivian Bearing in the acclaimed New York production of Wit and has since gone on to star in productions of Medea, Copenhagen, All My Sons, Mary Stuart and The Cherry Orchard. Highlights of Lisa’s film career include the Australian Oscar for Best Actress for The Last Days of Chez Nous and her film Sunday, which won the Grand Jury Award at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival, and also earned Lisa an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Actress.

 

Lisa is the author of the environmental handbook, What Can I Do? which has had three separate editions published in the US, Australia and New Zealand. She and her husband, biologist Roger Payne have created the program SeaChange: Reversing the Tide, which explores the idea of sustainability through science and poetry, and which they are beginning to perform nationwide.
