Larry Engel, Writer/Producer/Director/Cinematographer


Larry Engel has with nearly thirty years of filmmaking experience spanning all seven continents. His work has appeared on most of the major outlets for science and adventure including PBS, National Geographic, the Discovery Channels, the History Channel and the Food Network. Larry recently completed work on the feature film Apology, an indie film that he produced, edited and was the director of photography.

He’s flown into hurricanes, been chased by tornadoes, and dropped into ice caves. He’s fled wildfires, gotten lost in jungles, nearly been stranded in Antarctica, and spent three years traveling the globe to come face to face with a lot of mummies. Larry has been honored with a host of nominations and awards including a Daytime Emmy® for Best Cinematography, a AAAS-Westinghouse Science Journalism Award for excellence in science writing for television, and the Mountain Spirit award from Mountainfilm in Telluride. His most recent award was a First Place Gold Medal in Cinematography in the Documentary 30-60 minute category at the US International Film and Video Festival. LA.
